Blended Learning
Blended learning is a form of learning that is supported with digital content/tools and in which the student has some control over the pace, path, or time that the work. As an example "flipping" the classroom is a form of blended learning. Flipping the classroom is a method that has the student learning content at home and working on collaborative projects in class, essentially "flipping" the traditional way a class has been taught.
In this artifact, I revamped a unit of 7th grade social studies curriculum to include components of blended learning. Having never really spent any time in the classroom (I come from a strictly technical background, and have never taught), this project was very difficult for me. While I have been in education for several years, and I am knowledgeable about blended learning concepts, I am always hesitant when discussing curriculum. Overall, this project gave me a lot of confidence in my ability to look at curriculum and come up with a lesson plan.
